A brace, including a goal eight
minutes from time, from Stephen El
Shaarawy saw AC Milan salvage a
share of the spoils in a Serie A league
match against Napoli.
Napoil took a two goal lead in front of
their home fans at the Stadio San
Paolo, both goals coming in the
opening half through Gokhan Inler
and Lorenzo Insigne, before El
Shaarawy pulled the match out of the
fire with a goal at the end of each half.
Both Napoli’s goals came about
because of errors made by Milan, the
first occurring as early as the fourth
minute of the match.
A blunder by Christian Abbiati
between the sticks for Milan saw him
allow a rather timid long range shot
from Inler go through his legs and
across the goalline, 1-0.
Milan, though, tried to hit back quickly
and came bitterly close five minutes
later when Riccardo Montolivo saw
one of his powerful attempts from the
edge of the box go narrowly wide.
On the half hour mark things got even
worse for Milan as they fell two goals
behind after a deflected shot from
Insigne saw its way past the keeper to
double Napoli’s lead, 2-0.
And they were lucky to only be two
down two minutes later when a
mistake by Kevin Constant allowed
Insigne through on gaol, but while he
beat the keeper in a one-on-one
situation, he saw his shot cleared off
the goalline.
Milna continued to apply the pressure
in the hope of pulling a goal back and
they did just that a minute before the
break when a fantastic 20-yard strike
from El Shaarawy found the top left-
hand corner of the net, 2-1.
The second half saw Milan launch
attack after attack in search of the
equaliser, but despite all their efforts
they seemed unable to find the break
through until eight minutes from the
end.
A sublime through ball from second
half substitute Robinho saw El
Shaarawy through on goal and he
made no mistake with a clinical finish
to salvage a point for his team, 2-2.
With Napoli unable to find the win
they remained in third spot on the
Serie A league table while the point
for Milan sees them up to tenth on
the log, but only three points off sixth
place.
