The Super Falcons on Sunday
qualified for the semi-finals of the
AWC after they defeated Cote d’Ivoire
3-1 in Malabo on Sunday.
The Super Falcons thus topped Group
B with nine points from three
matches and will take on Bayana
Bayana of South Africa, the runners-
up of Group A, in one of the semi-
finals.
The other semi-final will be between
hosts Equatorial Guinea, who topped
Group A with nine points, and Group
B runners-up Cameroon. On Sunday,
the Falcons took the lead through
Ogonna Chukwudi in the 10th minute,
while Ngozi Ebere fired home a free
kick on 41 minutes to make it 2-0
going into the half time.
Stella Mbachu scored her first goal of
the competition after several near
misses in the 75th minute before the
Ivorians pulled a goal back eight
minutes later through N’rehy Tia Viho
Ines.
