Juventus 0-0 Lazio: Bianconeri unable to beat masterful Marchetti

Despite scoring six goals in a league
match seven days ago, Juventus could
not find the back of the net against
Lazio in a Serie A match on Friday
night.
The league leaders played to a
goalless draw in front of their irritated
home crowd at the Juventus stadium,
their second draw of their Serie A
season which keeps them at the top
of the table on 42 points.
It was also Lazio’s second draw of the
league season which sees them in
fifth place with 23 points after 13
games.
The fans inside the Juventus stadium
were not entirely happy with their side
after they displayed horrible prowess
in front of goal, and this seven days
after they beat Pescara 6-1.
However, it wasn’t for lack of trying as
Juve created numerous chances in
front of goal, the first coming in the
16th minute.
Kwadwo Asamoah drove forward,
beating a couple of defenders on his
way into the box where he unleashed
a shot that was superbly saved by
Federico Marchetti, palming the ball
behind for a corner-kick.
In the 31st minute, some more
woeful shooting from Juventus was
on display when Sebastian Giovinco
dragged a shot wide from close
range.
A minute later and Giovinco produced
an even greater mishap in front of
goal. Initially the striker did brilliantly
to bring down a long ball from the
back and then beating two defender
before finding himself one-on-one
with the keeper, but he fired wide yet
again.
The second 45 was more of the same
and in the 61st minute Marchetti
produced another great save, this
time denying a thunderbolt from
Arturo Vidal by tipping the ball over
the crossbar.
The last real chance to find the back of
the net arrived in the 75th minute for
Juventus when Leonardo Bonucci
powered a header goalwards, but
again saw Marchetti in his way as the
game ended 0-0.
