Barcelona 2-1 Celtic

Jordi Alba touched home at the far
post in the fourth minute of stoppage
time as Barcelona edged home 2-1 and
denied Celtic a heroic Champions
League point after a herculean effort.
The Scotish champions, with Fraser
Forster and Efe Ambrose outstanding,
kept the four-time champions at bay at
the Nou Camp until Alba stole in to
turn in Adriano's cross and deny them
an unlikely - but fully merited-draw.
Celtic, unsurprisingly, were pushed
back from the first whistle but, with
Lionel Messi seemingly subdued, their
disciplined defence were able to hold
firm.
Marc Bartra did find some space but
his firm header was pawed away by
Forster before Scott Brown won a free-
kick wide on the right.
Charlie Mulgrew whipped the ball in
for Georgios Samaras to flick on and
the ball flew into the net off the back of
Javier Mascherano (18).
Messi's radar was just off-beam with
two dipping free-kicks before Celtic's
attacking pivot Samaras was forced to
hobble off.
And the pressure finally told when a
trademark series of one-touch passes
ended with Andres Iniesta (45) slipping
the ball home from 10 yards.
Messi's 20-yard lob dropped
harmlessly over while Celtic went close
as Victor Wanyama bundled the ball
wide from Mulgrew's corner.
Forster then produced a trio of quality
saves, first blocking Messi at point-
blank range and then standing tall to
deny Alexis Sanchez before a flying
stop again frustrated Messi.
Substitute David Villa did rattle the base
of the post from 18 yards in the final
minute but if Celtic thought luck was
on their side they were to be cruelly
disabused by Alba.
