Bundesliga: Bayern remain undefeated

Bayern Munich have continued
their unbeaten run in the Bundesliga
with a comfortable 5-0 win over
Fortuna Dusseldorf.
Mario Mandzukic and Luis Gustavo
Dias gave Bayern a 2-0 lead at half
time and the league leaders made it
eight from eight with Thomas
Muller netting a brace and Rafinha
sealing the 5-0 romp.
Eintracht Frankfurt continue to put
pressure on Bayern with a 3-1 win at
home to Hannover .
Karim Matmour and Sebastian Jung
gave Eintracht a 2-0 lead inside 18
minutes before Mohammed
Abdellaoue pulled one back for
Hannover before the break. But an
81st minute strike from Alexander
Meier sealed the victory for the
hosts who remain five points behind
Bayern.
Schalke gave themselves breathing
space in third place, holding off a
fast-finishing Borussia Dortmund
side and sealing the match with a
2-1 win.
Ibrahim Afellay and Marco Hoger
scored early on in both halves,
making Robert Lewandowski's 55th
minute strike a consolation.
Bayer Leverkusen stole a point
from the visiting Mainz with a late
Gonzalo Castro goal giving the home
side a hard-fought 2-2 draw .
Stefan Kiessling opened the scoring
for Leverkusen before half-time, but
Adam Szalai and Marcel Risse gave
Mainz a 2-1 lead. They looked
certain to grab three points before
Castro ensure Bayer remain in fifth
place.
Elsewhere, Freiburg were the big
movers of the day with a 2-0 defeat
of Wolfsburg moving them up to
seventh place.
Julian Schuster sealed the result for
Freiburg after Daniel Caligiuri
slotted home a first half penalty.
In the late game, Werder Bremen
won the battle of the current under-
achievers, defeating Borussia
Monchengladbach 4-0 at the Weser
Stadion.
Nils Petersen and Marko Arnautovic
put Thomas Schaaf's men on the
way to three points with goals just
before half-time and Niclas Fullkrug
and Zlatko Junuzovic wrapped up
the win late in the second half.
Gladbach were unable to find any
answers as they fell to their third
defeat of the season to remain 12th
in the table.
