Porto 3-2 Dynamo Kiev

Porto made it three wins from as many
games in Group A of the Champions
League, after edging a thrilling match
against Dynamo Kiev 3-2.
However, the Portuguese champions
were twice pegged back after going
ahead, before Jackson Martinez
grabbed the decisive third - and his
second of the match - 13 minutes from
time.
Porto broke the deadlock on 15 when
Lucho Gonzalez's low cross was
collected by an unmarked Silvestre
Varela who swivelled on the spot and
found the top right-hand corner of the
net with an unstoppable strike past
Oleksander Shovkovsky.
At the other end, Helton pushed away
a low Miguel Veloso shot for a corner,
from which the visitors levelled matters
six minutes later.
Veloso's cross was met by Oleg Gusev
whose glancing header from close
range gave Helton no chance.
But the hosts were back in front nine
minutes before the break as James
Rodriguez's slide rule pass was taken
by Martinez who slipped the ball under
the body of Shovkovsky from eight
yards.
Kiev levelled for a second time on 72
when Ideye Brown latched onto Andriy
Yarmolenko's through ball before
volleying beyond Helton with his left
foot.
Yet Porto went ahead for a third and
final time five minutes later as Martinez
swept the ball into an empty net from
Gonzalez's low cross.
And there was no coming back this
time for Kiev who must beat Porto in
two weeks to prevent the latter from
booking their place in the knock-out
stage of Europe's premier club
competition.
