Mohamed Aboutrika will miss
Saturday’s CAF Champions League
semi-final at Nigeria’s Sunshine Stars
on account of a club suspension.
Last month, the legendary star was
suspended for two months following
a Super Cup saga
Aboutrika, who is Ahly’s leading scorer
in this year’s Champions League
campaign with six goals, did not travel
with the Red Devils from Cairo to
Nigeria on Thursday.
However, a top Ahly official informed
reporters that the mercurial
forward could still play a part in the
return leg match in Cairo in a
fortnight.
“’Trika is not here with the team as his
suspension by the club is still running,
but he could still feature in the
second leg,” an official disclosed.
Aboutrika is one of several players
who will miss this semi-final clash.
Egypt striker Emad Meteb, Sayed
Moawad, Oussou Konan as well as
Mahmoud Hassan aka Trezeguet will
also miss the match.
Meteb has problems with his kidney
stones, while Moawad has a muscle
problem.
Mahmoud Hassan is with the Egypt
U20s for a 2013 African Youth
Championship qualifying match
against Angola also this weekend.
Saturday’s clash will kick off 3pm local
time at the Dipo Dina Stadium in
Ijebu-Ode.
