Eliseu scored two fine goals to lead
Malaga to a 3-0 Champions League
Group C victory over Anderlecht.
On the stroke of half-time, the
Portuguese international unleashed a
long-range left-foot volley to break the
deadlock.
Joaquin added a 57th-minute penalty
and Eliseu put the game to bed with a
looping lob over keeper Silvio Proto on
64.
With their defence yet to concede a
goal in the Champions League, Malaga
lead the group with six points, ahead
of AC Milan - who beat Zenit St
Petersburg 3-2 - on four.
Anderlecht had in with high hopes of
taking the joint lead in the group, but
never got a challenge going.
When the Belgian champions were
given some space early on, forwards
Milan Jovanovic and Dieumerci
Mbokani could not break through
when faced with a staunch defence led
by the outstanding Martin Demichelis.
As soon as Malaga decided to increase
the pace and push forward, the
momentum swung.
Proto made some sterling saves to
keep the visitors at bay, but the match
was effectively over once Eliseu scored
his first.
