Ashley Cole will be charged by the FA
today over his reaction on Twitter to
doubts over his evidence in the John
Terry racial abuse case.
Cole was accused of "evolving" his
statement to help support Terry's
defence against the charge he used
racist language towards QPR defender
Anton Ferdinand.
That angered the Chelsea left-back,
who took to Twitter to issue an angry
riposte to the FA, leading to the current
situation.
The 31-year-old is still due to report for
England duty at St George's Park today
as he awaits his fate, although there
are suggestions he may be left out of
the squad for Friday's World Cup
qualifier with San Marino.
England then face a trip to Poland on
Tuesday, with Cole keen to play in that
as well as Friday's contest at Wembley
in order to reach a century of
international caps.
The defender is also awaiting the
results of a club investigation into his
remarks on Twitter, which broke
Chelsea's social media policy.
