Ashley Cole has been charged with
misconduct over his abusive tweet
about the FA.
The England left-back posted - then
deleted - the insult after a Regulatory
Commission questioned his "evolving"
evidence in the John Terry-Anton
Ferdinand case.
The row has overshadowed what
should have been a landmark fortnight
for Cole, who is two appearances short
of becoming the sixth Englishman to
win 100 caps.
The 31-year-old may now have to wait
until the spring to reach that milestone,
with widespread reports suggesting he
will be left out of Friday's World Cup
qualifier against San Marino at
Wembley.
Cole, who has until Thursday to
respond to the charge, remains a part
of Roy Hodgson's squad and is
expected to return for Tuesday's trip to
Poland.
Chelsea have begun their own
disciplinary action against the
defender, whose tweet was in breach
of club rules.
