Wigan 2-2 Everton

Leighton Baines grabbed a late point
for Everton from the penalty spot, as
the Toffees drew 2-2 with Wigan who
remain without a home win this
season.
With just three minutes remaining,
Maynor Figueroa fouled Kevin Mirallas
and the Everton left-back blasted the
spot kick high into the net.
Yet a draw was the least Everton
deserved, after twice falling behind at
the DW Stadium.
Wigan went ahead in the 10th minute
when Shaun Maloney's cross was
nodded home at close range by
Arouna Kone.
However, the lead lasted just 70
seconds when the in-form Nikica Jelavic
clipped home the equaliser at the far
post as he latched on to Steven
Pienaar's slightly mis-hit cross.
But back came the Latics with Franco
Di Santo restoring their lead in the 23rd
minute with an excellent strike from
inside the box following Kone's assist.
As Everton chased a second equaliser,
Ali Al Habsi saved well from Leon
Osman and Mirallas, while Baines
struck a post four minutes before the
break.
And there was more of the same at the
start of the second half, as Everton
continued to dominate possession.
Mirallas missed a couple of great
chances, one of which produced
another decent save by Al Habsi.
At the other end Di Santo headed wide
while Kone came close to snatching a
third for the hosts, only to be denied
by Phil Jagielka.
But with time running out, Baines
grabbed a well-deserved equaliser for
the visitors, although Maloney missed
a brilliant chance to win the game for
Wigan, when his 90th minute strike
clipped defender Seamus Coleman
before bouncing off the top of the bar
